Surgical Treatments
Mr Ahluwalia has a special interest in cosmetic eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasties), brow lifts, as well as scar-free excision of moles, lumps and cysts.
The results of Blepharoplasty are natural, and extremely pleasing for the patient, as well as longer lasting than non surgical treatments. Eyelid surgery which retains natural creases and addresses surplus skin (eye bags) will result in a more youthful appearance while making the eyes look larger.
Brow Lifts
As the ageing process advances, the collagen producing cells diminish, and the long-term effects of gravity cause the underlying muscle to stretch, making the brow sometimes sag and wrinkle. This in turn can cause the eyebrows to droop; giving the face a tired or sad appearance and making you look older. In severe cases drooping brows can even affect vision. A brow lift can remedy this, by raising the brows and lifting the eyelids, which re-opens the area around the eyes; this will improve the face's focal point, giving a more open, bright, fresher look. We also offer non surgical Brow Lifts in some patients.
Droopy Eyelids (Ptosis)
Ptosis (pronounced tosis) is the medical term for drooping of the upper eyelid, a condition that may affect one or both eyes. In most cases an acquired drooping of the upper eyelid results from the ageing of the eyelid. Typically the muscle that attaches the ‘lifting’ muscle to the eyelid stretches and the eyelid droops low. Occasionally the condition results from other medical conditions. The treatment involves an operation to lift the eyelid and it is usually carried out under local anesthetic as a day case with or without sedation. We usually use dissolving stitches at the site of the operation.
Blepharoplasty
The upper and lower eyelids can develop bags or wrinkles that can make you look tired and make the face age. At Eyesite our experienced eyelid plastic surgeon can assess you and address this problem if indicated with a Blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty is an operation to correct bagginess of the upper eyelids and under the eyes. It involves removing excess skin, fat and muscle from around the eyes. Blepharoplasty can be carried out on both upper and lower lids, separately or at the same time. Blepharoplasty may be performed under a local or general anesthetic.
Non-Surgical Treatments
Using Restylane, a unique aesthetic treatment, our surgeon can restore smoothness and volume to skin, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance. Restylane re-hydrates and plumps up skin in a way that creams and other moisturisers simply cannot do. This treatment can be supplemented in a delicate way, with Botox for facial lines.
Botulinum Toxin - Wrinkle Softening Injections
The softening of wrinkles using Botulinum Toxin injections is a long established treatment for improving the fine lines and wrinkles caused by ageing.
These injections are routinely used by eyelid & facial plastic surgeons due to their expertise in the complex facial musculature.
These injections temporarily block the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles which cause wrinkles, resulting in wrinkle relaxation and a more youthful appearance. Treatment is fairly non-invasive, comprising of a number of minute injections into the area being treated. Patients can usually return to work immediately, with the effects lasting 3-6 months.
Dermal Fillers (Restylane)
Restylane is an injectable gel that should always be administered by a trained, medically qualified practitioner. It is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle as an office procedure. The procedure requires topical anesthetic cream & less frequently a local anesthetic injection.
Restylane enhances your natural looks by restoring your skin’s volume, creating softness and revitalizing your appearance. It is one of the most tried and tested dermal fillers available today.
Restylane is a crystal-clear gel produced biotechnologically using stabilized, nonanimal hyaluronic acid and water. The hyaluronic acid is a tissue-friendly substance closely resembling the hyaluronic acid that occurs naturally in the body.
